Below you can read a short description of the members of our two selection boards

To select the finalists that will be invited to be part of SCALE-UP DENMARK powered by Next Step Challenge we have partnered up with some of the most prominent leaders, business experts and investors in the Scandinavian region.

Selection Board Energy Efficient Technologies:

Lisbeth Valther, CEO SE Next Step
Lisbeth is the CEO of SE Next Step and one of the founders of the Next Step Challenge. Lisbeth has more than 25 years of experience with innovation, consumer research and business development. Prior to coming to SE Next Step Lisbeth was part of corporate management at LEGO and had the responsibility for digitalizing LEGO’s development process and creating a new digital channel for LEGO’s product portfolio in collaboration with MIT Media Lab. Lisbeth is also part of the board of directors of ORKLA ASA and Amersports OY

Søren Munk, Chief Investment Manager, Insero
Søren is a trained civil engineer from the Technical University of Denmark and have an EBA from VIA UC. Søren is responsible for Insero investments within venture and private equity. Here, he focuses on completing the right investments in relation to Inseros strategy. Søren function as an important sparring partner for Insero’s portfolio companies in terms of strategy, product development, sales, and business development. Søren has many years of experience with corporate venture activities from the IT industry.

Stig Poulsen, Partner & Area Director Vækstfonden
Stig is partner and area director in Vækstfondens venture-team. Stig has a long experience in business development and investing in early stage companies, primarily in the industrial and cleantech fields. Before Vækstfonden, Stig was managing director of Danfoss Ventures, the former corporate venturing arm of Danfoss. Stig has more than 20 years of experience with business development across several industries.

Henrik Mentz, Founder & CEO og iEnergy
Henrik recently founded iEnergy which develop and sells energy projects with intelligent solutions. Henrik was for many years CEO of Nyfors and has more than 20 years of experience within the energy sector in Denmark. When SE fusioned with Nyfors, Henrik joined SE’s corporate management and headed up corporate development until he left SE in October 2016.

Niels Münster-Hansen, Managing Director, Cisco DenmarkNiels Münster-Hansen
Niels joined Cisco in 2000 and has been the Country Manager and Managing Director of Cisco Denmark since 2008. Niels has vast experience within the IT-industry from Sales, Marketing and Strategy areas through leadership positions in the Danish and Nordic IT Industry. Niels holds a Graduate Diploma in International Business and a Bachelor of Science in Economics & Business Administration and a Graduate Diploma from the Stanford Executive program.

Thomas Helt, Senior Vice President, Falck Healthcare
Thomas is an entrepreneur with vast experience in buying and selling companies. Thomas has founded and built a solid growth company which is now very well consolidated and has emerged as a sustainable business. The company is now represented in two Scandinavian countries and employs more than 350 employees. Thomas has the responsibilities for 5 different judiciary units where the CEO refers directly to Thomas as Senior Vice President. Thomas is also in the board of two minor industrial companies in the Esbjerg area.

Preben Mejer, Founder RadrPreben Mejer
Preben is one of the most knowledgeable people in Denmark within new technology and new businesses emerging from this. Preben has founded several IT businesses – both profit and non-profit organizations within the area of future technology. Preben holds many Board positions and as a result of his deep insights in trends and future technology he is a keen used expert by both the Danish Government as well as the Danish media. He founded Radr a few years ago – a consultancy giving advice on technology for large corporations in Denmark



Selection Board Offshore Industry:

Kim Baarsøe, CEO VIKING SaatseaKim Baarsøe
Kim is CEO of VIKING Saatsea – an onboard training company of the VIKING Life-Saving Equipment family. The company was founded by Kim 4 years ago and 1 year ago VIKING invested in the company. Before VIKING Kim were CEO and part owner of AM-Group – one of Denmark’s leading consultancy companies within working environmental issues, health and safety for employees. Kim is a serial entrepreneur and have been involved and invested in more than 20 startups and 10 buildups over the past 15 years. Kim is currently
board member in 7 companies and chairman in 5 of these.

Anders Eldrup, Chairman of Offshoreenergy.dk & LORC
Anders is a Danish business leader who for years has been a central figure in Danish politics and business. He was previously Permanent Secretary at the Danish Ministry of Finance, and since 2001 Eldrup has taken the position as CEO DONG Energy from 2001 to 2012. Anders is a professional member of boards and holds the position as Chairman of the Board at Offshoreenergy.dk and LORC.

Preben Mejer, Founder RadrPreben Mejer

Jesper Frost Rasmussen, CEO DIN Forsyning A/S
Jesper is CEO at DIN Forsyning A/S. Since January 1st 2014 Jesper has been the 1st deputy mayor in the city of Esbjerg, member of the Economic Committee and 2nd Vice Chairman of the Committee of Children and Family in the Municipality of Esbjerg. Jesper has previously been at Danfoss, LEGO and BOSCH/Holger Christiansen in Esbjerg for 10-12 years in different project management and management positions. Jesper has also been Chairman of the board at Sydtrafik since 2014.

John Sørensen, Managing Director Rambøll Oil & Gas
John Sørensen joined Ramboll in 1986. He became Department Director in Esbjerg, Denmark in 1991 and Doha, Qatar in 1996, Deputy Director in 2002 and was appointed Managing Director in 2009. John has a strong, multidisciplinary engineering background with extensive experience in project management, onshore and offshore construction work and supervision. He is the man behind several of the Ramboll Oil & Gas’ greatest orders and has been responsible for day-to-day operations of the offices in Denmark, Norway, Qatar, Abu Dhabi, India and the UK.
