Describe your startup and product as if you were describing it to a non-tech person on the street.
Social Jukebox, Tracktl is an app that lets users interact together with the music of a location on theirs smartphones. Tracktl is used as an event animation (parties, cocktails, etc…) and a venue sound system (bars, gyms, student cafeterias, etc…).
Describe how you got the idea to start your business.
We spent a semester abroad in Asia, to study the impact of music and digital on people and their experience in daily life spaces. Between karaoke’s, new generation bars and digitalized shopping malls, we became aware of the impact of the social and unifying values of music, especially when there is interaction between venues and users.
How does your product/service works?
In a matter of seconds, a user can log in a bar with Tracktl app. He has access to the full track list of the venue and he can add and vote for his favorite songs. The more votes a song gets, the faster it will be played: it is a musical democracy. With the app ,the users can post messages and photos on social networks or directly on the interactive wall of the bar that is displayed live on TV screens in different spots of the venue.
Why did you apply for the Next Step Challenge program?
We applied to Next Step Challenge because :
– it is one of the only accelerators on music and sound,
– it is the most ambitious startup program in Europe,
– it is the first step for us to attack the European market,
– it is a great experience to discover a new culture and ecosystem,

Fun fact: Tracktl aims to promote the social and unifying values of music. That’s why we launched a street-marketing operation last year, in which a man alone manages to make a whole metro dancing (here). In this video, we can see clearly that music is a unifying link between people of any culture, and it should be part of the experiences of our every daily life.
